Continuous COD, pH and flow monitoring with alarm capability — replacing manual grab sampling with traceable, report-ready data.

Background

A pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ukraine faced tightening discharge requirements for its effluent treatment facility. Regulatory reporting demands continuous, traceable data — not manual grab samples.

Challenge

Pharmaceutical wastewater varies sharply with production batches: fluctuating organic load, surfactants and intermittent high-solids spikes. The plant needed continuous COD / pH / flow data with alarm capability, instruments tolerant of fouling, and data their environmental report could stand on.

Solution

Sinno deployed an online monitoring package combining a COD online analyzer, pH sensors and flow metering, connected to the plant's SCADA via RS485/Modbus, with 4G data upload to a cloud dashboard for remote compliance review.

Results

  • 24/7 continuous monitoring of COD / pH / flow, replacing weekly manual sampling
  • Alarm thresholds enabled rapid response to batch-related load spikes
  • Long-term continuous operation with low, predictable maintenance
  • Data accepted to support local environmental reporting; the plant is now extending monitoring to a second outlet
